In no way am I trying to discredit the effort these celebrities are putting in to get some type of justice for the people that were offended by this ad, or speak righteousness into the actions of #HM. I believe that this ad deserves the negative attention it's getting because it is faulty. And it takes people with influence to provide it with the necessary attention. But I believe this goes beyond just an ad. People, especially black men, always tell me that usually they don't go for black women, but I'm the exception. The ease with which these words can leave the lips of a man who's only on this earth because of a black woman is astonishing and quite disturbing in my opinion. Black people need to start uplifting themselves, every day, all day, just like white and hispanic people do. It's no other race's duty to do what we are having a hard time doing ourselves. This isn't a post about black love! This is a post about colorism in the industry and how black people in power aren't doing enough to integrate and change the view people have of black people in general! I want to hear your thoughts! #ItStartsWithUs
